This commit adds missing INCLUDE_ configurations to FreeRTOSConfig.h for
the following functions:
- xTaskAbortDelay()
- xTaskGetHandle()
Unit tests for these functions were also added.
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7902
Add TRY_ENTRY_CRITICAL() API to all for timeouts when entering critical sections.
The following port API were added:
- portTRY_ENTER_CRITICAL()
- portTRY_ENTER_CRITICAL_ISR()
- portTRY_ENTER_CRITICAL_SAFE()
Deprecated legacy spinlock API in favor of spinlock.h. The following API were deprecated:
- vPortCPUInitializeMutex()
- vPortCPUAcquireMutex()
- vPortCPUAcquireMutexTimeout()
- vPortCPUReleaseMutex()
Other Changes:
- Added portMUX_INITIALIZE() to replace vPortCPUInitializeMutex()
- The assembly of the critical section functions ends up being about 50 instructions longer,
thus the spinlock test pass threshold had to be increased to account for the extra runtime.
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/5301
This commit updates the USB Host Library API in the following wasy:
- usb_host_client_handle_t and usb_device_handle_t made into struct pointers
to generate compiler warnings about conflicting handle types
- usb_host_client_config_t changed to future proof API for Synchronous Clients
- Added usb_host_lib_unblock()
- Added usb_host_device_addr_list_fill()
- Return of usb_host_device_free_all() updated to indicate whether there
are still devices yet to be freed.
- Blockg APIs are now marked explicitly
- Fixed a bug in usb_host_transfer_submit_control() when checking the bEndpointAddress
of a control transfer.
Tests are also refactored to move some common macros into shared headers
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7786
This commit fixes how the USBH handling of a sudden device disconnection,
more specifically handling of device gone.
- Previously the USBH would only halt, flush, and dequeue the device's
default EP, then send a device gone event to the Host Library layer.
- Now the USBH will also halt and flush all non-default EPs, allowing
all of the URBs to be dequeud.
- Some internal object members are now protected by a mutex instead of
a spinlock.
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7505
This commit fixes how the USB Host HCD handles sudden disconnections.
Bugs:
- HW channels remain active when the port suddenly disconnects, and
previously the channel would be disabled by setting the disabled bit,
then waiting for a disabled interrupt. However, ISOC channels do not
generate the disabled interrupt when the port is invalid, thus leading
to tasks getting indefinitely blocked in hcd_pipe_command().
Fix:
On a sudden disconnection, forcibly treat all channels as halted even
if their HCCHAR.ChEna bit is still set. We do a soft reset after a port
error anyways, so the channels will eventually be reset.
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7505
This commit addes the 8/16 bit register field access workarounds to
the DWC_OTG peripheral. This workaround was applied to all other
peripherals in commit 874a720286.
The previous SMP freertos round robin would skip over tasks when
time slicing. This commit implements a Best Effort Round Robin
where selected tasks are put to the back of the list, thus
makes the time slicing more fair.
- Documentation has been updated accordingly.
- Tidy up vTaskSwitchContext() to match v10.4.3 more
- Increased esp_ipc task stack size to avoid overflow
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7256
This commit removes the following critical nested macros as follows:
- portENTER_CRITICAL_NESTED()
- portEXIT_CRITICAL_NESTED()
They are replaced with portSET_INTERRUPT_MASK_FROM_ISR() and
portCLEAR_INTERRUPT_MASK_FROM_ISR() which are the proper FreeRTOS interfaces.
Created a portmacro_deprecated.h for each port to contain deprecated API
that were originally from portmacro.h
This commit adds the following hook functions to obtain memory
for the IDLE and Timer Daemon tasks when configSUPPORT_STATIC_ALLOCATION
is enabled:
- vApplicationGetIdleTaskMemory()
- vApplicationGetTimerTaskMemory()
Currently, both functions simply allocate from the same memory as
regular tasks (i.e., internal memory for both the stack and TCB)
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/7511
- port.c and portmacro.h contents are now logically grouped
- Doxygen API descriptions added
- Added refactor todo markers
- Removed portmacro_priv.h. Contents now in portmacro.h
- Formatted files
When using the Force U32 macros in C++, the peripheral structs will not
have copy constructors due to them being volatile. Thus, doing temp_reg = reg
via typeof() will not work and cause a "ambiguous overload of operator=" error.
This commit fixes the macros by reading the reg into a uint32_t value first.
- This commit adds the API documentation for the USB Host Library.
- Warnings about the beta API are also added.
- usb_host_misc.h renamed to usb_helpers.h
This commit adds the preliminary version of the USB Host Library. This commit contains:
- USBH (USB Host Driver)
- Hub Driver that only supports a single device and device enumeration
- USB Host Library (asychronous API)
- Test cases for USB Host Library asychronous API
The following changes were made to the existing HCD:
- Removed HCD_PIPE_STATE_INVALID. Pipes are no longer invalidated
- Changed pipe commands to halt, flush, and clear. Pipes need to be manually
halted, flush, and cleared.
- Halting and flushing a pipe will execute the pipe callback if it causes a
HCD_PIPE_EVENT_URB_DONE event
This commit moves the mock classes used for HCD unit tests into
a common header so that other layers of the USB Host stack can
also utilzie them for their own unit tests.
This commit fixes the following bugs with the HCD and USB Host HAL
- Make the setting to periodic frame list and scheduling to occur after
a reset command
- All port errors states should put the port into the HCD_PORT_STATE_RECOVERY
state.
- Fixed incorrect return type of hcd_port_command() function
This commit changes the IRP (I/O Request Packet) structure to
the URB (USB Request Block) in order to represent USB transfers
in the host stack. The new URB strcuture:
- Add extra safety with const fields
- Allows each layer of the stack to add their own overhead variables
The HCD layer API and tests have been updated to use this new URB structure
This commit adds support for interrupt and isochronous pipes to the HCD:
- HCD now internally uses double buffering
- Added test cases for interrupt and isochronous transfers
- Reorganized test cases for each transfer type
- Updated API comments and maintainer's notes
Some minor bugs were also fixed
This commit updates the HCD so that transfer requests are no longer used.
The USB IRP object is updated so that the it can be directly passed to the HCD
to start a transfer. HCD API, tests, and documentation updated accordingly.
This commit removes the custom HTML rediiect extension and uses
the sphinx-reredirect extension instead. The sphinx-reredirect
extension allows for redirection to external links as well as
support for wildcards.
This commit separates out the common USB types used throughout most of the stack into its
own header file inside the USB component. The types used in the USB HAL are now exclusive
to the HAL.
This commit updates the documentation and register struct
of the TWAI driver for the ESP32-C3. Note that the register
fields for ESP32-S3 have also been updated.
This commit adds the feature where the TWAI ISR will continue to
run even if the cache is disabled. Whilst cache is disabled, any
received messages will go into the RX queue, and any pending TX
messages in the TX queue will be transmitted. This feature should
be enabled using the CONFIG_TWAI_ISR_IN_IRAM option.
This commit simplies the defines made in the _caps.h header. Kconfig
option dependencies were moved into the LL, and the check for a
valid BRP has bee simplified.
This commit adds TWAI driver support for the
ESP32-S2. The following features were added:
- Expanded BRP support
- Expanded CLKOUT Divider Support
- Updated example READMEs
Heap fragmentation causes 4-8 bytes of memory to be leaked
(due to rounding up of memory sizes). Increase the leak
thresholds to prevent test cases from failing.
This commit updates the watchdog timers (MWDT and RWDT)
in the following ways:
- Add seprate LL for MWDT and RWDT.
- Add a combined WDT HAL for all Watchdog Timers
- Update int_wdt.c and task_wdt.c to use WDT HAL
- Remove most dependencies on LL or direct register access
in other components. They will now use the WDT HAL
- Update use of watchdogs (including RTC WDT) in bootloader and
startup code to use the HAL layer.
The following commit refactors the CAN driver such that
it is split into HAL and Lowlevel layers. The following
changes have also been made:
- Added bit field members to can_message_t as alternative
to message flags. Updated examples and docs accordingly
- Register field names and fields of can_dev_t updated
This commit removes any function calls within
the CAN driver that result in a call to ESP_LOG
whilst inside a critical section.
These function calls are either moved outside
critical sections (e.g., intr_alloc and gpio
functions), or substituted (e.g., assert()).
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/4412
This commit fixes thread safety issues with configASSERT() calls
regarding the value of uxSchedulerSuspended. A false negative
occurs if a context switch to the opposite core occurs in between
the getting the core ID and the assesment.
Closes https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/4230
This commit fixes multiple bugs caused by incorrect calls to
can_enter_reset_mode() and can_exit_reset_mode. Example test
scripts also updated to match new runners.
The following commit updates the first half of the the system
example README files. Some other changes were also made:
* Updated base_mac_address example
* Moved contents in GCOV README to GCOV docs
* Some *main.c file names updated
* Updated example README template
This commit sorts the entries of variuos toctrees
alphabetically. Indentation was also fixed. The order
of some toctrees were not modified if the existing
order had some form of suggested reading order.
This commit updates does the following:
- xRingbufferCreateStatic() added to allow ringbuffers via to be statically
allocated. Docs and unit tests update accordingly. Closes#3064
- Fix doc typos, closes#3248. Updated API reference regarding to mention
item size limits of no-split buffers when calling
xRingbufferGetCurFreeSize() or xRingbufferGetMaxItemSize(), closes#3117.
- Remove the following deprecated types/functions for v4.0
- xRingbufferIsNextItemWrapped()
- xRingbufferAddToQueueSetWrite()
- xRingbufferRemoveFromQueueSetWrite()
This commit refactors backtracing within the panic handler so that a common
function esp_backtrace_get_next_frame() is used iteratively to traverse a
callstack.
A esp_backtrace_print() function has also be added that allows the printing
of a backtrace at runtime. The esp_backtrace_print() function allows unity to
print the backtrace of failed test cases and jump back to the main test menu
without the need reset the chip. esp_backtrace_print() can also be used as a
debugging function by users.
- esp_stack_ptr_is_sane() moved to soc_memory_layout.h
- removed uncessary includes of "esp_debug_helpers.h"
This commit removes trailing semicolons following a while(0) from
function-like macros in IDF. This will force those macros to be called
with a semicolon when called.
When xPortGetCoreID() is called twice within a function,
it might only be called once after compilation. This
commit makes the inline assembly of the function volatile.
Closes#3093
The following commit adds a real time stats example demonstrating how to
obtain task CPU usage statistics over a period of time, as opposed to the current
run time stats in FreeRTOS which measures task CPU usage as a percentage of
total system run time.
This commits adds the functions can_clear_transmit_queue() and
can_clear_receive_queue(). Closes#2906
The following bug are fixed:
- CAN_IO_UNUSED is now explicitly cast to enum type. Closes#2825
- Fix multiple documentation errors. Closes#2898, Closes#2794
- can_reconfigure_alerts() returns incorrect current_alerts. Closes#3028
- Add missing header file. Closes#3065
This commit adds the ability for backtracing to trace from the itnerrupt to the
task stack, and across nested interrupts. Test cases have also been added.
This commit updates some of the API references in task.h so
that stack sizes are referred to in bytes rather than words as
found in the vanilla version.
Closes#2528
This commit adds an option to enclose all FreeRTOS task functions within a
wrapper function. In the case that a task function returns, the wrapper function
will log an error and abort the application immediately.
Closes#2269Closes#2300
The following commit rewrites the ESP-MESH docs. This commit includes
new diagrams and a structure approach to the mesh docs. Some mesh api references
have also been modified.
This commit does the following
- Add power management lock to CAN driver so that APB frequency does not change
whilst CAN driver is in use
- Fix incorrect flag in can_transmit()
- Refactor can_driver_install() and can_driver_uninstall() so that critical sections
are shorter
- Fix CAN gpio configuration bug on RX pin. Closes#2302
